Build your ride to
20–21 November

Ten weeks, built around the actual course: 222 km and 3,129 m of climbing over two days, with an eleven-kilometre ascent on the Friday that decides everyone's weekend.

1Where you are now

Be honest rather than optimistic. These numbers drive the whole ramp.

2You

Age and weight only set your heart-rate ceiling and your hourly fuelling. Nothing leaves your browser unless you ask it to.

3Your numbers, if you have them

Leave both blank and you'll train on perceived effort, which works. FTP gives the sharpest zones; a tested max heart rate is next best.

4What you're good at

These get maintained, not drilled.

5What hurts

This is what changes your plan. Each one adds a named session to the build block.

Plan updates as you type.

Intensity model after the published work of Stephen Seiler on polarised training and the three-zone framework. Any errors in applying it are ours, not his.

General guidance for healthy adults already riding regularly — not medical or coaching advice. If you're new to endurance exercise, coming back from injury or illness, on medication that affects heart rate, or have any cardiovascular concerns, talk to your GP before you start. Back off if something hurts in a way that isn't just tired legs.
